Elena Lachi and Joshua Fenu Spring Summer 2017 shoes collection evoke the nostalgia of “old” trends this year. For the SS 17, these two Italian designers have come up with a shoe collection that refers to the 70’s and 80’s yet can be mixed and matched with items from the 30’s, 60’s and 90’s. This creates a unique style that anyone can wear. It is very stylish, ranging in colors from white to black, and even extending to denim, the biggest trend of the year. There is also a use of different patterns involved, most notably floral patterns reminiscent of the summertime. Elena Lachi’s creations, which are very colorful, remind us of the 70’s, blending a mix of a bohemian/ dandy-wit (for example the cowboy ankle boots) and a sport-chic style. The collection is made of different type of boots, sandals, and sneakers. Joshua Fenu’s creations recall the 80’s. He drew his inspiration from Keith Haring’s patterns and the world of tattoo art, with designs reminiscent of Moschino style. He uses a lot of silver and gold as well as relying on the zigzag and stars patterns. It also seems that it could be associated with the 60’s era, the space age instead of the 80’s. In both cases, these shoes can be worn in tandem with re-emerging fashion trends. To accentuate, flared trousers worn in the 70’s (famous for being worn with the afro and disco music) and the mini-skirt of the 60’s, invented by Mary Quant and known for being worn by supermodels, go dashingly with the shoes in this collection.
